Community Film Library — Open and Legal Plex

Par André MF — Online / Worldwide

Cinema has become a platform commodity: Netflix, Disney+, Prime decide what you can watch, when, and in what language. Public domain films (Chaplin, Méliès, Nosferatu, thousands of works) are scattered across YouTube with no guarantee of quality or availability. Independent documentaries and Creative Commons short films have no dedicated platform. And when you have legally purchased a DVD or Blu-ray, you do not have the right to share it with your community, even temporarily — unlike a physical library that lends its books. What is missing is a community infrastructure that does for cinema what public libraries do for books: catalog, lend, and preserve.
