🗣️ Living Archives — Saving Endangered Languages Before They Disappear

Par André MF — Online / Worldwide

One language dies every two weeks. Of the 7,000 languages spoken today, nearly half will be extinct by 2100. Each language carries unique knowledge — medicinal plants, navigation techniques, philosophical concepts, oral histories — that cannot be translated. Current preservation efforts are academic and disconnected from communities. Linguists document languages in papers that communities can't access. Meanwhile, the last fluent speakers age and pass away, taking irreplaceable knowledge with them.
